PRINT | Cafe at Casa Cor 2006

Media_httpwwwundercon_fiqbv

Menus for this temporary Brazilian cafe were printed on cloth -- a beautifully unique touch. I really love the warmth of the simple 2-color design, along with the playful typography.

I hope the menu-on-cloth idea gains some footing. It's a wonderful idea, in my humble opinion.

VINTAGE + PRINT | Middletown Lumber Newsletter

Media_httpwwwundercon_fzgcg

In the age of electronic newsletters and impersonal "Dear, Friend" emails, I love the idea of bringing back the hand-worn, vintage feel of the classic, informative, interesting newsletter.

In addition to the beautiful paper selected for this piece, the interesting mix of typography makes this a mailer that - I would presume - most people would love to receive.

TYPOGRAPHY + COLOR | Beatifully Vintage Marvis Toothpaste

Media_httpvintagemeoh_hiywe

The beauty of this packaging required a quick post. It's 'modern vintage' at its finest: great colors, strong typography, and the design is...just enough.

I may have to track this stuff down to add to my bathroom shelves.

There are more great images at the link - have a look!

CREATIVE | Esquire Magazine Cover August 2011

Media_httpforumswatch_rwzdc

In case you don't frequent the magazine section of your local bookstore, I thought I would quickly share this Esquire cover that caught my eye last weekend.

Maybe I'm an easy girl to please, but I thought it was one of the most fun, clever, and amusing "designs" I've seen in some time.

I've always found the art direction in the pages of Esquire to be well done. And, the eye-catching quality of this hand-illustrated cover is not only humorous, but it draws attention to the consideration that goes into the "real" layouts we typically see.

Thanks for not taking yourselves too seriously, Esquire!

Also: Daniel Craig...

TYPOGRAPHY + ADVERTISING | Dockers

Media_httpvintagemeoh_azrdg

These ads (real?) for Dockers are very cool. They have a rustic feel to them and the compositions are great, as well. I've never seen this anywhere in print, but...I'd like to.

RE-BRAND | Little Chef Restaurant in the U.K.

Media_httpwwwundercon_lpymg

The rebrand of this UK restaurant chain is a nice is a refreshing update that maintains the character of the original. The chef icon has been simplified, and the friendly script used for the new wordmark is appealing in its playfulness.

In addition to these changes, however, I'm particularly fond of the new "to-go" packaging and labels; as well as the colorful trays and signage that integrate the look of the rebrand throughout the restaurant.

Lots of great images at Brand New. I encourage you to check them out.

IDENTITY | Silver Lining Opticians

Media_httpimg190image_tcffa

I'm loving the elegance of this identity suite for New York's Silver Lining Opticians. It features a great mix of fonts and there's a nice consistency between each piece.

This is a pleasing way to start the week, if I do say so myself!
